UST screen viewing angle and the seating sweet spot
Viewing-angle numbers look simple, but they can hide different measurement methods. What matters in your room is how brightness, contrast and color hold up as people move away from the centerline.

Why optical screens change off-axis
Any screen that deliberately redirects light has preferred directions. Fresnel structures can concentrate more light toward a central viewing region, while many lenticular surfaces spread image light more broadly from side to side.
Measure your sofa, not just your wall
- Mark the screen centerline.
- Measure the distance from the screen to the primary seating row.
- Measure how far the leftmost and rightmost important seats sit from center.
- Use that geometry to judge whether a directional screen will cover the seats that matter.
Be cautious with headline viewing-angle specs
Manufacturers do not always publish the same threshold or method behind a viewing-angle number. Some regional listings for the same product family can also differ. Treat the number as a starting point, then prioritize real seating geometry and any available independent measurements.
